The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to inch a step closer to a wildcard playoff berth this Sunday, December 27 when they visit Baltimore to take on the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. The Steelers took down the Denver Broncos by a score of 34-27 at home in a thrilling encounter last week. They enter this game with a record of 9-5 and occupy second place in the NFC North. The Ravens sit in third place in the same division at 4-10 and are coming off of a 34-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last weekend. These two teams met each other back in week four action in October with Baltimore handing the Steelers a 23-20 loss at Heinz Field. The Steelers will be looking for revenge against their archenemy this weekend.

The Steelers’ offense has been rolling this season and has been hard for most teams to handle. They overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to Denver last Sunday and managed to shut them out in the second half for a big win. Once again, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and receiver Antonio Brown led the way and Pittsburgh has won five of their past six games. Roethlisberger completed 40 of his 55 pass attempts and threw for three touchdowns and 380 yards. Brown caught 16 of those passes for a pair of touchdowns and 189 yards. The Steelers have now racked up a minimum of 30 points each timeout in their past half dozen contests.

The Pittsburgh defense did its job in the second half after struggling early on and recorded an interception and two turnovers in the last 30 minutes. For some reason the Steelers play some of their best football in the month of December as they’re 10-0 straight up in their past 10 December fixtures and are 9-0-1 against the spread over that stretch. Pittsburgh’s offense will be tough to slow Down in Baltimore since it is the second-best in the league at 402.9 yards per game.
Baltimore is hoping to avoid its fourth consecutive loss this weekend after falling to the Chiefs a week ago. The Ravens conceded a pair of touchdowns each to the Kansas City defense, offense, and special teams. One of the bright spots was quarterback Jimmy Clausen who was picked up as a free agent recently. Clausen went 26 for 45 in passing with a pair of touchdowns and gained a career-best 281 yards. However, he also threw a couple of costly interceptions.
The Ravens’ attack is ranked in the top 10 and could cause the Steelers’ mediocre secondary some problems. The Steelers have been conceding an average of about 280 yards in the air each week, which ranks as the second-most in the league. Baltimore has lost just twice in their past six encounters with divisional rivals, but is just 2-3-1 in those games when it comes to the spread. This is a huge game for the Steelers and they can’t afford to slip up.
