The Georgia Bulldogs host the Auburn Tigers Nov. 15th

The Auburn Tigers visit the Georgia Bulldogs in a top college football showdown at Sanford Stadium in Athens this Saturday, November 15th. The Tigers were beaten 41-38 at home by Texas A&M last week and are in danger of missing the playoffs even though they’re 7-2 on the season. Georgia is coming off a 63-31 win over the Kentucky Wildcats and are also 7-2 on the campaign.

The Tigers lost their game against Texas A&M due to a couple of crucial and untimely fumbles near the end of the game and the defeat could prove to be quite costly. While the offense fumbled the ball against the Aggies the defense also struggled when it was needed the most. Freshman quarterback Kyle Allen started his first SEC Game last week against the Tigers and he tossed four TD passes and 277 yards. The Aggies also averaged five yards per carry. It was a bad combination for the Tigers who have conceded 36 points per game in their past four contests. They’re now going to face Georgia, who leads the SEC in scoring at 43 points per outing.
The Tigers’ offense played well other than the fumbles as they gained 582 total yards. Quarterback Nick Marshall rushed for a pair of touchdowns and passed for another and he’s averaging at least three TDs in his past half a dozen games. Running back Cameron Artis-Payne had a career-best 221 yards on 30 carries along with two touchdowns. Artis-Payne is averaging 6.4 yards each carry in his last three appearances and has five touchdowns in those games.
Auburn may be without their top Duke Williams against Georgia as he injured his knee against the Aggies and was lost for the rest of the game. Williams has five TD catches on the season and has 598 yards on 37 receptions.
The Bulldogs were beaten 38-20 by Florida a couple of weeks ago, but rebounded nicely with their 63-31 road demolition against Kentucky last weekend. Quarterback Hutson Mason completed 81 per cent of his passes with four of his 16 resulting in touchdowns. Freshman Nick Chubb ran for 170 yards on just 13 carries and has now averaged 167 yards on the ground per game over the last four weeks while taking over for the suspended Todd Gurley.
Look for Georgia to have success moving the ball against the Auburn defense, but they need to be careful of the Tigers’ decent offense. The Bulldogs managed to shut out their division rivals Missouri last month on the road, but then allowed Florida to rush for 418 yards against them and average seven yards each carry. Georgia needs to try to contain the Tigers’ running game or they could find the going a bit tougher than they expected. Georgia conceded 32 at home earlier this year to Tennessee and winless Vandy scored 17 against them as Georgia won both games, but failed to cover the spread.
