The Eagles offense looked good last week against the Saints and they’ll need to keep up the momentum against the Giants. New York quarterback Eli Manning is now the overall leader in wins for the Giants franchise after picking up his 102nd victory last Sunday. He was picked off in the second quarter, but finished the game with 441 yards in the air by completing 41 out of 54 passes and tossed three touchdown passes. He picked up 11 yards on the ground and wasn’t sacked all game long.
He may have a field day in Philly this week since the Eagles have one of the worst passing defenses in the league as they give up an average of 279.6 yards each outing. Manning is hoping his receivers keep up their fine play against the Philadelphia secondary. Unfortunately, second-year wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. pulled his hamstring last week, but was able to return to the game. He ended up with a touchdown after gaining 121 yards on seven receptions. Running back Shane Vereen added 86 yards on eight catches and also scored a touchdown.
New York will lean on their aerial attack since the running game has been struggling a bit. Running back Rashad Jennings hasn’t hit the 50-yard barrier since the opening game of the season. The team’s defense also needs to tighten up as the Giants concede 384.8 yards per game, which places them just 27th best in the NFL. The Giants are 3-7 both against the spread and straight up in their past 10 encounters with the Eagles.

The Eagles were down 7-0 in the first quarter last week, but then outscored the Saints 39-10 over the next three quarters to pull out their win. Quarterback Sam Bradford was intercepted twice in the red zone and finished the game with a pair of touchdown passes, 333 yards and completing 32 of 45 passes. Running backs DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews each ran in for touchdowns as Mathews had eight carries for 73 yards and Murray gained 83 yards with his 20 runs. Mathews and Murray will be facing a strong Giants’ rushing defense on Monday though as they’re second best in the league with just 80.6 yards allowed per game. Also, running backs have averaged just 3.5 yards against them per run, which is the lowest in the NFL.
If the running game is stymied, the Eagles will need a good performance from their receivers. Josh Huff had 78 yards last week by catching four out of five passes and a touchdown while tight end Zach Ertz gave gained 60 yards with five receptions on six passes. Brent Celek added 44 yards and a touchdown by going three for three. The Eagles will likely go to the air since the Giants’ secondary is the worst in the league by conceding 304.2 yards per game in the air. The Eagles are good at forcing turnovers and have six interceptions on the year. Philadelphia is 5-3 against the spread in their past eight home encounters and they should take this game to tie the Giants for first.
